Accommadations

"Nana, will you accommodate me?"....BIG words for a 5 year old....I had a hard time just spelling it. And all he wanted was to do it his way. Is it just me, or do you agree that children are brighter and more inquisitive than they were 30 years ago? Don't get me wrong, my sons were the best at everything (according to me) but children in this generation have a different kind of curiosity, excitement, and love of life.

While I ponder all of these happenings in our world....I will for sure try to accommodate. Love my grandchildren!!!

Byd my myself

Children are so independant these days. Everytime I offer my assistance, I hear "I can do it byd myself." I don't remember being so independant. I want to think that I always wanted my mama and grandmothers to help me do everything. Or maybe it is just my memories taking me back and wishing I was still that innocent little girl who would always need her mama. Heck, I still need my mama...more and more every day. Because each day that I still have her here on earth is a blessing. So for now, I will allow him to do it byd himself.

paperless coupons

I am all about saving money. At my house, every penny counts. But.....I have to admit, sometimes I forget the coupon, or I forget the item, or I even forget the coupon at checkout. I am always in a hurry... you know...other places to go, people to see, things to do. So, when I read the article in my local newspaper, "Add eCoupons to loyalty cards"...I was excited to say the least. I was jumping up and down. The clerk always asks me for my loyalty card, so this is a win-win for me!!

There are several sites, but here is https://savingstar.com/users/sign_in the one that I like the best.  Three of my favorite stores are featured...Food Lion, CVS, and Lowe's Food.

Now if my other frequent shopping sites (Walmart, Target, Belk, Kohls, Sam's...hint-hint) would offer loyalty cards...life would be simple.

Please share your thoughts and websites that work for you. See ya at the checkout!!

Forever Collections

Little boys LOVE to collect "things".....broken bricks, snake skins (yuk), "dinosaur fossils" (really just rocks, but this Nana is not telling him that!), dead bugs, butterflies, dragonflies, rocks, seashells, "baby pecans"(not fully matured pecans), rocks, locust shells (we find these stuck on the trees where they have shed their outer skin...yuk), rocks, marbles, acorns, and did I mention rocks?

All of these are kept in "My collection box" at Nana's...to be kept forever. "You won't throw them away will you Nana?" No, baby...they can stay here forever. And yes, forever they will be here. Especially in my heart with the memories of collecting with you.

I'm nam

Do you remember Yogi Bear? The fun-loving, happy, bear OR do you remember the bear with the big belly who waddled around the campground?? I remember the latter, especially when I look in the mirror. Never thought at middle-age I would compare my body shape to a cartoon bear!!

I am trying (or at least I was trying) to change my body image. I have lost 25 pounds (do I hear applause)...and kept it off for one year (applause again please). Willpower has not been my friend. But today is a new day. Looked and searched until the pedometer was located....10,000 steps a day!! That is goal #1. Goal #2 will be to drink 8 glasses of water or unsweet tea a day. Unsweet tea...a BIG change for this southern gal. Have to say it is an acquired taste. And because of migraine triggers, no artificial sweetener added. Yuck!!!!

Beginning this day with a talk to myself "I'm nam, I'm nam, I'm nam going to start new today." (I'm nam is my grandson's way of saying I am)

Wish me luck!! I'm nam going to keep you posted. Happy day everyone!!!

Ask the "go-fixer"

My 5 year-old grandson was visiting yesterday. "Nana...can we play the Wii?" So I'm thinking...good exercise for me... nice, cool way to occupy him. Well, to make a long story short...the Wii would not work. We plugged and unplugged, reset and unset, cut on and cut off. Nothing worked.
Finally he,in his so-smart, matter of fact way says "Nana, call the go-fixer man and ask him to fix the Wii. And if he can't fix it, you can go on the compooter to gofixer.com and they will fix it."
Reckon there really is a guy at gofixer.com???

As you can see, my life is very enriched by a fabulous and funny 5 year old. I hope to share through this blog his ever-so-funny comments. He also has a 9-month old little sister. Not talking yet, but sooo cute just the same. I also have a 10 year old nephew and 6 year old niece who can rock the roof off the house.

Stay tuned for more excitement and thrills. And all of this is going on while I am trying to cure my addiction to sugar...
